C3I Successfully accomplished a three-day “Training No. 3 on Intelligence and Security Sector Governance and Accountability: Human Rights Mainstreaming in Security Sector Reform” for CSO and Media representatives in North Macedonia
Partnering with DCAF-Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance, Cyber security Corporate security and Crisis Management Initiative – C3I was involved in conducting a three-day “Training No. 3 on Intelligence and Security Sector Governance and Accountability: Human Rights Mainstreaming in Security Sector Reform” for CSO and Media representatives in North Macedonia between 13-15 March 2023 in Berovo, North Macedonia.
This training is part of the larger endeavor in building capacities for local CSOs and Media organizations in order to better contribute to the overall process of intelligence and security sector reforms in North Macedonia.
This particular training was focused on the practical methods of operationalizing the Human Rights-Based Approach to Security Sector Reform. This training gathered 14 CSO and Media representatives. Two C3I members, d-r Metodi Hadji-Janev (SSR expert and professor of law) and d-r Olga Koshevaliska (professor of law) have tackled the following topics: Human Rights and Security; Right to privacy and data protection in the era of mass-surveillance; and Gender Mainstreaming in the Security Sector Governance.
In addition to the thematic lectures, C3I experts prepared two thematic practical exercises, tackling human rights, data protection and gender mainstreaming in security sector governance. The training ended with a scenario-based Tabletop exercise (TTX). This initiative is implemented in partnership with DCAF – Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance as part of the Intelligence and Security Sector Reform Programme in the Republic of North Macedonia (2021-2026) and is supported by Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands, and European Union.
